Ret. Army Sergeant Jorge De Leon
In 2004, Jorge De Leon was deployed on his second and final tour of duty in Afghanistan. He was in the country for only a month and a half when, while driving a Hummvee, he spotted insurgents aiming a Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) at his convoy. While maneuvering to avoid the attack, he drove over an anti-tank mine. As a result of the attack, Jorge lost his right leg up to his knee and his left leg was broken in three places. The blast also took the hearing in his one ear and left him with Traumatic Brain Injury. Today he walks with the use of a computer controlled prosthetic leg and has joined the Coalition to Salute America's Heroes full-time as a national spokesman. He lives with his family in Antonio where he helps identify other wounded veterans who need financial and emotional assistance as a Brooke Army Medical Liaison for CSAH. Jorge was named the newest Texas Sentinel on October 27, 2009 in San Antonio, where he and his family were presented with an award for their new home. The home will be provided by Tilson Homes and the Texas Sentinels Foundation San Antonio Team led by Patsy Oakley.

Jorge’s support team is lead by Patsy Oakley, RE/MAX Preferred, REALTORS and has been working to make Jorge’s new home a reality. The team has utilized business relationships to raise money and awareness in San Antonio of the Texas Sentinels Foundation’s mission.
